Thrift Store Find
Saturday Mom and I went to the thrift store. Not as much fun as with my former thrift store partner, but I managed to find something else to add to the smiley face collection. And a Pyrex casserole dish and a candle holder.

A Visit with Mom
My mother stopped in this weekend. She is going to babysit my adorable niece this week and I needed my mommy, so she stayed here on Saturday.
Things with the Heir to the Throne have not been going good lately. I don't know that I'm surprised, but I was hopeful that his time in the Tower would get his head on straight. No such luck. If I can ever track him down, I'm giving him the option of straightening up right now, or moving out by the first.
Mom and I had a good visit. She told me a couple stories that I didn't know about. Guess my uncle once got in trouble with the school board. In March of his 2nd year of teaching, a boy decided to shoot a paper clip with a rubberband at another student. He hit her on her eyelid. This wasn't the first time this boy had been naughty, so my uncle took him up to the front of the class, put him over his knee and paddle his butt. Did I mention that this was the minister's son? No, well, it was. The minister immediately retained a lawyer and my uncle was brought up in front of the school board. After they heard the story, they sided with my uncle. That boy, never acted up in this class again --- But the family did leave town at the end of the school year. Oh, and just for the record, this happened about 1961-ish.
Story two involves my grandmother and the one-room school house she attended. One time Mom asked her what they did in school since most of the students were children of immigrants. Children whose first language was probably Norwegian, Swedish or German. Grandma told her that the rule was this: As soon as you are on school property, you are required to speak English. And the textbook used for classes----usually the Sears-Roebuck catalog.
All-in-all it was a good weekend with Mom. We did some shopping, some eating, lots of talking and she reminded me that somebody loves me.

Up to Speed
Whether you are new here or and old friend - welcome to my new spot in cyberspace!
I really haven't been blogging much lately due to a couple of factors. One, busy with school and work. Two, someone I work with found my blog. And although this person is a good friend, I just really haven't been comfortable posting since she started reading. It might not be so bad if she would admit that she is reading, but she does and hasn't said a word about it. Yes, I'm sure she is because I caught her there one day and site meter tells me so. I tell this person what she needs to know about my life. I feel weird about this because I have no problem with perfect strangers knowing my life, and you all know you are perfect. And Yan and Tug read, but Yan is now 1800 miles away and Tug is in Hell.
So here I am. New name, new address. Kind of like a fresh start. Which sometimes, is good.
My first semester at a real university finished up last week. I got decent grades. Accounting and Management were A's and my stupidwasteoftimepaininthebutt on-line class, Intercultural Communications - I got a C. That class really sucked. So glad it is over. Summer semester starts in 12 days. I'm taking Computerized Accounting and doing my intership. My current employer is allowing me to do it there. So I pay for 3 credits and show up at work everyday. There, internship complete.
I got a couple of new toys. I bought an IPod Nano with a couple of gift certificates and part of my tax refund. Then with my Coke Rewards, I got the I-Pod deck. Loving both of them. I had some songs from some of my cds on the computer so I could put them on my shuffle, but that was just good music for walking to. Now, I'm busy getting all my tunes on there. Fun Fun. Someday, I may finish up that project!Another obsession lately has been Word Mojo. It's like playing Scrabble all by myself. Tons o'fun.
So, thanks for coming by, stop in again soon.....
